Collect some 1-litre plastic pop bottles. Cut off the bottoms and paint them white. I recommend using spray paint on the inside.
Cut letter-size paper in half. Use pink paper to resemble the healthy color of gums.
Create fold lines dividing the paper into three sections.
Cut one section into three flaps-this side becomes the bottom.
On the other side, cut at an angle near the end and remove the center. This will be the top.
Connect the long edges and tape or glue the flaps together.
Attach the top side to form a round opening for the tooth. Ensure the opening is snug enough to hold the tooth.
Cut the bottle bottom to create roots.
Insert the tooth into the pink base so it fits snugly.
Make more teeth as needed.
Cut a large piece of cardboard into a semicircle (or a quarter-circle if the board is small). Glue the teeth along the curved edge, one by one.
Add a tongue to complete the teeth. Repeat the process with more teeth and larger cardboard to create a full set of upper and lower teeth.
Learning Points
Anatomy of the tooth, roots, gums, and the pocket between gums and teeth.
Importance of flossing to keep pockets and gaps clean for healthy gums.
Inspired by educators around the world. Many people have created DIY dental projects for kids. This activity is designed for group settings, where children are divided into teams to work on individual teeth and assemble them together at the end.
